Steven F. Wukovits was primarily raised in Union, New Jersey and graduated from Seton Hall University. He was awarded a Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School and is admitted to practice in the State and Federal Courts of New Jersey. From 1989 to 1994, Mr. Wukovits served as an Assistant Essex County Prosecutor and Special Deputy Attorney General. He gained extensive litigation experience successfully prosecuting a wide range of felony criminal cases during his tenure. In 1995, the New Jersey Supreme Court first designated Mr. Wukovits a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney. It is a proud designation that he continues to hold today as there are only 250 lawyers (less than 1%) in New Jersey certified as a Criminal Trial Attorney.

After joining the firm as a law associate in May 1996, he was assigned primarily to work on serious criminal cases, as well as personal injury and workers’ compensation matters. Mr. Wukovits continued to consistently provide excellent results for the firm’s clientele and he became a partner in 2001. Thereafter, Mr. Wukovits became the principal litigator of the firm’s State and Federal criminal defense work.

Mr. Wukovits continues to be included on the New Jersey Super Lawyers list published by Thomson Reuters. Only 5% of attorneys in New Jersey receive this honor. He has also been featured as a top attorney in New Jersey Monthly magazine. Mr. Wukovits, due to his solid reputation and decades of experience, is often referred serious criminal cases by other lawyers in the tri-state (NY, NJ, CT) area. A top-rated attorney by AVVO, he is also a contributing writer to AVVO’s criminal law forum. Steven is also a selected member of America’s Top 100 Criminal Defense Attorneys and The National Trial Lawyers’ Top 100.

Mr. Wukovits has served as a lead attorney in many cases, including the matter involving the $338 million Powerball lottery winner, and successfully defended individuals accused of murder, kidnapping, carjacking, aggravated assault, drug trafficking, arson, sexual assault, robbery, weapons possession, and official misconduct (including police officers). He also handles municipal matters (including DWI/DUI offenses), restraining orders in the NJ Superior Court, as well as appeals and PCR applications. Steven’s cases have been featured in the New York Times, the Star Ledger, The Record, Herald News, The Record Press, The Coast Star, NJ.com, News 12 New Jersey, WPIX11, Univision, and NBC4 New York. 

Steven is an acting member of the Criminal Advisory/Speedy Trial Committee for the Union County Superior Court. In 2009, he was recognized for Meritorious Public Service as a Member of the N.J. Supreme Court’s District Ethics Committee.

Mr. Wukovits also focuses his law practice on the needs of individuals in the areas of personal injury and workers’ compensation.
